Scott Hallenbeck and Jeff Brick opened Hallenbrick in 2009. Nine taps, one or two house beers, the rest New Mexico. The room closed around October 2011. This is a record of it.
Not a production plant and not a full kitchen. A small drinking place west of Jefferson, north of Ellison, near the old Rio Grande Brewing — ahead of the taprooms that came later.
Brick, a long bar, nine handles on the wall. Usually two of them were the house: Green Zia IPA and Adobe Stout. The rest poured Santa Fe, Chama River, Il Vicino, Turtle Mountain — the state, on tap.
“Ahead of the later taprooms.”
Two house beers on nine handles. Green Zia IPA took third at the 2009 New Mexico IPA Challenge; Adobe Stout is the one the room remembers, strong, around eight percent.
